The Back Story:

Top: Low budget racer Ralph Oliver and his #171 cars were always fan favorites at LV, as everybody always finds themselves rooting for the underdog.  Ralph was fun to watch as through the weeks and years, you could see him steadily improving, remembering a few runs were he dazzled the LV crowd with some surprising runs.  And without even knowing for sure, I’d bet the cost of racing eventually pushed Ralph to the side like so many other tight budgeted racers, but he can say he was out there and “done that”.

Second: It’s a shame we didn’t have this excellent shot of Ralph a few weeks ago when we used the crummy B&W program photo for the Mystery Driver that week.
