The Back Story:

Mike Dolan in the #26 gives chase to the 811 of Danny Holland and an unknown competitor on a day when the Race of Kings was indeed a race for Kings?  Back then nearly a 100 358 modifieds would run 8 or 9 heat races trying to make the 30 car starting grid for the 100 lap grind and more importantly, a chance at the coveted 5 guaranteed spots open for the October 358 Syracuse race.  An equal amount of sportsman and big block invaders would also tow in for the Saturday and Sunday weekend extravaganza.  The camping area was full and the clubhouse was hopping on Saturday night as a culmination to another long and satisfying racing season came to a fitting close.

Additional Comments:  Thanks to Dick McKie for the additional information on this picture, Dick replied with. “The 811 with the unknown driver from the "Race of Kings" is Danny Holland.  He is the brother of John Holland who is the CEO of New England Racing Fuels and an owner of the 98H DIRT Mod. driven by Jimmy Phelps.”
